Clean Windows Registry–fix Slow Running Computer

July 31st, 2010

When using your computer and adding or removing files or programs, fragments of data are left on your hard drive in the Windows registry. Over a period of time this accumulates and causes the registry to become overloaded with unwanted data. This the most prominent cause for slow running, freezing and crashing problems.

Spyware or adware is installed unknown to you by third parties who want to track your computer usage and benefit from this knowledge. This also uses up your computer’s resources and can be another cause of slow running. Free antispyware programs can be downloaded on the internet and do an excellent job.

Needless to say viruses are a major problem if they infect your machine. Every computer which is used on the internet must have an antivirus program installed or infection is certain. A firewall is good protection but is not enough on it’s own. Free antivirus programs are readily available on the internet and do a very good job of protecting your computer.

When your computer registry accumulates a large amount of unwanted data entries it becomes bloated and clogged. The operating system has a hard time finding it’s way through this maze to find the necessary data to run the computer. The result is a slow running computer, freezing, and the occasional complete crash. If not corrected this will steadily get worse.

Your computer registry is a databank of information which the operating system uses to run the computer and programs. All Windows operated computers since Windows 95 have a registry. This is the most common source for computer problems involving slow running, freezing and crashing.

Slow Running Computer– 7 Easy Ways To Speed It Up

July 25th, 2010

When a computer is new it will run at full speed. Exactly how fast it runs depends of course on how it is equipped. If you need a really fast computer you should invest in a high end machine with the very best processor and lots of memory.

Then again your speed for surfing the internet depends entirely on your internet connection speed. Obviously a high speed cable connection is much faster than a dial up.

When your computer seems to gradually run slower over a period of time there can be a number of reasons for this and you can correct the problems fairly easily in most cases.

1. Do you have enough memory in your machine? Anything less than 1 gigabyte of RAM is barely enough these days. If you have less you should upgrade to at least 1 Gigabyte of RAM and 2 or more gigabytes would be better. Same applies to your hard drive. If you download a lot of stuff you should have a big hard drive. A minimum of 100 gigabytes is needed these days.

2. Have you got a lot of programs you never use on your hard drive? Uninstall as many as possible. The extra hard drive space will speed things up especially if you have a small hard drive. Aim to have no more than 50 to 60 percent of your hard drive space in use.

Registry Scan To Fix a Slow Running Computer

July 2nd, 2010

Computers that are newly bought run fast and smooth. Inevitably, your computer would experience some problems or errors and the performance of your system would dramatically slow down. You would really get frustrated when this happens. There are a lot of reasons why your computer is running slow. These are some of the reasons:

Hard drive is corrupted or fragmented There is not enough hard disk space Computer is infected with virus The computer or processor is overheating System is filled with unused or corrupt files Bloated security suites Adware and spyware is involved You have many unused programs that take up space Disorganized or overstuffed registry

If you want to fix your slow running computer, don’t immediately go to a computer repair shop and spend hundreds of dollars or get yourself an upgrade in your memory. The registry is the most crucial part of your computer. All the needed information for your computer to function is located in your registry. It is a large internal database that contains all Windows settings, which include thousands of entries and controls how everything in the system should behave. It also keeps track of key settings and even changes in all the software on your computer. Whenever you install a new software program, the registry takes note of the change. Errors occur in the process because of bad software devise or even the continuous changes in your registry. The files and programs that you no longer want, stay in the registry and it will cause errors and confusion to your computer. They can even clutter your registry when you add, move, or remove files.

My Computer is Running Slow – Why is My Computer Running Slow?

June 24th, 2010

I get asked this question all the time.  My computer is running slow, help!  Why is my computer running slow?  How can I fix a slow computer?  Well most people will tell you – just buy a new computer!  This is bad advice.  Before you spend hundreds or thousands on a new system, why not perform some speed tweaks and get your computer running at peak performance.  These are some steps you can take right now to speed up your computer.  There is also a program available that can perform the steps automatically for you in minutes.

•    Remove all temporary and files not being used.  When your computer’s memory gets overloaded, it can slow down your computer significantly.  Eliminating these useless files will clear up some space and should speed up computer access of programs.

•    Defrag your computer.  Microsoft recommends running a disk defragger once a month.  When is the last time you can one.  If you haven’t and are still wondering “why is my computer running slow”, then this may be part of the problem.

•    Clean up registry errors and other problems.  This is by far the most important step you can take.  About 6 months ago I was also wondering why my computer is running slow.  After scanning my registry and being shocked at all the errors in my system I began to understand.  I was amazed at how much it made my computer run faster.
