Negative Impact of Smart Phones

May 20th, 2011

I have to admit that I’m not smart phone fan, and never thought that smart phones will add any advantage to my daily life. My old Nokia mobile phone serves me well, all I need is to call and receive calls and more than that is sending text messages.

Recently I was influenced by my friend and said goodbye to my old mobile phone and switched to Apple iPhone and I noticed I have less time than before since I’m constantly reminded with updates ready to download for my mobile phone. I talk less to my friends too when we go out since we all are busy doing things with our mobile phones.

Every day while waiting for my daughter at school gate I see many parents, all not talking and heads are down doing one thing that is playing with their phones, I don’t understand what is there to make us so busy with our mobile phones or is it addiction to finding out what is there even though we don’t need it.

I understand now why iPhone users for example are very busy, I discovered that there are more than 26000 applications to download for free or purchase for iPhone alone. That means you need 72 years to try them all, one application each day. That is not all, every week there are articles in local newspaper trying to explain to us what more we can do with our iPhone.

The Cell Phone Mysteries, What are Dual Band, Tri Band and Quad Band Cell Phones and Where Will They Work?

April 15th, 2011

The world of the mobile phone is a confusing one these days, particularly for those wondering how to start a cell phone business. Few things are perhaps as confusing as GSM frequencies and GSM phones that seem to work in some parts of the world but not in others.

Multiple band cell phones and GSM frequencies can be especially confusing for anyone wondering how to start a cell phone business.

So what is the background behind the GSM network?

The GSM network was first suggested by a group of European technicians and policy makers in 1982 and it didn’t take long for consumers and phone makers to adopt the new network after it first emerged in 1991. It wasn’t long before there was growing GSM coverage in an increasing number of countries.

The GSM world grew quickly. There were more than one million subscribers spread over 70 carriers in 30 countries by the end of 1993.

Not only did the new GSM mobile network send and receive all of its information digitally, making it the first 2G mobile phone to be developed it also gave users a great deal of freedom on what they did with it. For the first time they were able to send short written messages to each other for a fraction of the price of a phone call, they could change their carrier and/or go to a different country without getting a new phone.

I have 9 months left on my t-mobile contract and I’m content with their service. The problem is I want a phone that another carrier has that is not offered by t-mobile. Can I use my sim card with their phone if I purchase an unlocked phone of that type and still have the same service and regular cell phone functions that I have now.

Answered by onThesource(ONLY for reference)

Sure, the unlocked phone can work well with your pre-paid SIM card, but you should make sure the phone supports GSM900/1800/1900MHz which is required by the SIM card of T-Mobile.

I have an unlocked at&t tilt aka kaiser Htc tynn. My question concerns how do I get T-mobile software on and At&t software off?

I am trying to sell this phone and it’s confusing to potential buyers. From T-mobile when they place their sims in and it still shows at&t software it is unlocked because otherwise it would ask for PUK a code or message insert sim card.

I unlocked it myself when contract was up requested and received the PUK code used old t-mobile sim card. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks
